Roll Call is the largest source of unrestricted funds at Georgia Tech and represents the largest base of unrestricted support for the Institute. Roll Call funds are used to support a variety of areas at Georgia Tech, including student scholarships and financial aid, faculty recruitment and retention, and new academic programs. Each of these areas helps strengthen the academic reputation of Georgia Tech.

FAQ’s
Why are unrestricted dollars so critical to Georgia Tech?
"Unrestricted funds are the key to institutional flexibility," said Dr. Wayne Clough, President of Georgia Tech. "They allow Georgia Tech to better serve our students, address unexpected issues and capitalize on breaking opportunities. In a rapidly changing world this ability keeps Georgia Tech in a competitive position."

Where does my contribution to Roll Call go?
Contributions to Roll Call provide critical unrestricted dollars necessary for Georgia Tech to continue as one of the nation’s premier institutions. Among the areas supported by Roll Call:
  • Scholarship programs that help recruit the nation’s top young scholars
  • Development of new curricula to meet the education demands of the fast-changing workplace
  • Recruitment and retention of outstanding faculty
  • Equipment which provides state-of-the-art classroom facilities
  • Programs and services that benefit alumni
How can I make a pledge to this year’s Roll Call?
You can make a secure, online gift or pledge. Or contact Gerri Elder, donor relations manager, at 404-894-0756. If you would like to mail your gift, please make your check payable to the Georgia Tech Foundation Inc. and send it to:
Georgia Tech Roll Call
190 North Avenue
Atlanta, GA 30313

Reasons to Give
State funding and tuition provide approximately half of the cost of a Georgia Tech education. The remainder is provided by private funds. Also, the U.S. News & World Report rankings use annual fund participation as a measuring tool. As an alumnus, your contribution to Roll Call helps increase the value of your degree.

Match Your Gift
When you make your gift in support of Georgia Tech, be sure to check with your employer to research their matching gift policy. While most companies will match their employees’ gifts dollar-for-dollar, many companies will support Georgia Tech with matching gifts that are double or even triple the amount of the employee’s gift. If your company will match your gift, you will receive credit for both your gift and the company’s match amount! This results in qualifying for higher giving levels. For example, your gift of $500, when matched with $500 from your company, can elevate you from the White and Gold Club to the Thousand Club - granting you membership into the Leadership Circle. See if your company is a part of our matching gift program.

If your company does not appear on the list or you would like additional information regarding the Matching Gift Program, contact Marisa Jackson, matching gifts coordinator, at 404-894-0782.

Buy Back Program
Roll Call's Buy Back Program gives Tech alums the unique opportunity to buy back missed Roll Call years to update their consecutive years of giving. Missed Roll Call years since graduation can be bought back for $100.00 per year, while student years can be bought back for only $25.00 per year.

Consecutive years of Roll Call giving are an area of pride for many Georgia Tech Alumni. For those interested in athletics, another reason to participate in the Buy Back Program is that you earn one A/T point for each consecutive year of giving to Roll Call.

To participate in the Buy Back Program, please contact Gerri Elder at 404-894-0756 or 1-800-GT-ALUMS.

Faculty/Staff Support
As an employee of Georgia Tech, you have the privilege of designating your roll call gift to the Faculty/Staff Fund. Please view the faculty/staff designation codes to earmark your gift to a specific department or program. Print a copy of the Faculty/Staff form and mail it in with your gift. If you wish to designate your gift to a department not on the list, contact Gerri Elder, donor relations manager, at 404-894-0756.

Parents Fund
Donations from parents directly support student scholarships, curriculum enhancement and faculty recruitment and retention. Previous unrestricted funding has helped support:
  • enhancement of new laboratories and classrooms
  • new educational technology program within Electrical/Computer Engineering, Architecture and Management schools
  • funding for the Center for Geographical Information Systems
Help improve the quality of your student’s Tech experience by making a gift to the Parents Fund. For further information regarding the Parents Fund or volunteer opportunities, contact Gerri Elder, donor relations manager, at 404-894-0756.

Golden Givers
With more than 50 years of consecutive giving, our list of Golden Givers show their ongoing commitment to Tech.

Class of 2007 Donors
This past year, the Georgia Tech Alumni Association made a contribution to Roll Call, Georgia Tech's annual fund, in the name of each alumnus who graduated in May 2007. Thank you to the Spring 2007 graduates who have made their commitment this year.

Georgia Tech Phonathon Program
Each weeknight (Sunday-Thursday) during the Fall and Spring semesters, a group of students meet in the basement of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association to call alumni, parents and friends of the Institute. Their purpose is to maintain ties and ask for fiscal support in order to increase Roll Call participation. The Phonathon Program accounts for more than $1,000,000 of the money Roll Call raises.
