  • Message From the Dean of Students
As the newly appointed Dean of Students, I look forward to meeting you sometime in the near future. In the meantime, I encourage you to reach out to me and my staff. We know that our students benefit greatly when we partner with others (faculty, parents, staff), to assist them in meeting the challenges of college, specifically, Tech. Please take time to familiarize yourself with the resources available to assist your student in their academic and co-curricular pursuits by visiting our web site at www.deanofstudents.gatech.edu/. Together, I know we can assist your student in making their Tech experience a meaningful and memorable one. Go Jackets!

Message From the Georgia Tech Parents Program
On behalf of the Georgia Tech Parents Program, I would like to welcome you to the Georgia Tech family. Sponsored by the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, the Parents Program and its volunteers are here to help support you as your student embarks on a challenging and rewarding experience. The goal of the Parents Program, which includes all Tech parents, is to facilitate communication between home and Tech's campus, sponsor family events - such as Family Weekend - and provide opportunities for volunteer involvement. You have the biggest impact on your student and staying connected is essential in their success here at Tech. I hope you will consider becoming active in the Georgia Tech Parents Program and I look forward to meeting you and working together to enhance and support your students' education.

    Sincerely,
    Amy Lancaster

  • GT Parent Handbook
The Georgia Tech Parents Program understands the various emotions college parents go through when their student is about to start college. Excitement may be mixed with fear and you may feel you need to gather as much information as you possibly can in the months leading up to move-in day. To help you prepare for having a student at Georgia Tech, we asked the advice of those who know how best to parent a Yellow Jacket- current parents! You will find helpful tips on preparing for move-in day, parenting from out-of-state, "surviving" the empty nest, and staying connected.

We welcome your words of wisdom! E-mail your advice to parents@alumni.gatech.edu. Please include your name, your student's name, major and graduation date and your hometown. We appreciate your help and we know future parents will feel the same.

  • The Georgia Tech Parent Network
You now have the opportunity to connect with Tech parents across the country! If your student is thinking about attending Georgia Tech, or if they are already a Yellow Jacket, connect with current Tech parents in your area. Seek advice from veteran parents, arrange carpools to and from campus, or simply network.

If you don't see a parent in your region, please e-mail any questions to parents@alumni.gatech.edu.

Please visit our volunteer opportunities page if you are interested in becoming a volunteer for our Parent Network.

  • Online Resources for Tech Parents

  • Volunteer Opportunities
Parent volunteers are needed at on-campus informational sessions for prospective Tech students and their parents, parent orientations, phonathons and special events. Your assistance is vital in order to provide first-hand knowledge of life as a Georgia Tech parent. View our volunteer web page, which lists parent volunteer opportunities, or contact us at parents@alumni.gatech.edu.

  • Give to the Parents Fund
The Parents Fund is another way in which you can be involved with your student’s college experience. Georgia Tech parents are making a much greater impact through their generous support. In the past few years alone, Parents Fund contributions have increased nearly six-fold. Your contribution directly enhances your child’s experience by providing funding to student life initiatives making Georgia Tech an even better place for students.

We exceeded our goal last year and raised $149,621 and with your help we will surpass our goal of $158,000 by June 30, 2008. Please join the thousands of Tech parents who have already given their gift this year.

Many companies will match gifts made by current and retired employees, which allows you to double or even triple the amount of your gift to the Parents Fund. See if your company has a matching gift program.

  • As of February 11, the Parents Fund has raised $100,696. Thank you parents!
