Location:

Little Hawaiian Restaurant
206 Rome Street
Carrollton, GA 30177

Description:

The Georgia Tech Club of West Georgia invites you to network with alumni and friends at our winter meeting with guest speaker

Stephen Fleming, Phys 83
Vice Provost for Economic Development and Technology Ventures

Stephen Fleming has 14+ years of private equity experience at the General Partner level. Prior to his venture capital career, he spent 15 years in operations roles at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Nortel Networks, and LICOM.

An Atlanta native and graduate of Georgia Tech, Stephen returned to his alma mater in mid-2005 as Chief Commercialization Officer. In 2009, he was promoted to Vice Provost, Economic Development and Technology Ventures, and Executive Director of the Enterprise Innovation Institute at Georgia Tech.

In addition to his roles at Georgia Tech, he is also a member of the Investment Committee of the Seraph Group, active in the “alternative space” industry, an investor in three private aerospace companies and is a founding member of the Space Angels Network. Mr. Fleming also serves on the Boards of Trustees for the Spiritual Living Center of Atlanta and for Tech High School, a charter high school emphasizing science, math, and technology in urban Atlanta.

Also joining us that evening, will be Shawn Askew, artist of “Toe Meets Leather”, the first of the Sting Tees line of t-shirts.  The line commemorates historic moments in Georgia Tech’s football legacy through unique art.  “Toe Meets Leather”, an artistic depiction of All-American kicker Scott Sisson’s winning field goal against Virginia in 1990, “kicks off” the series.

The t-shirts feature pencil-drawn art on their fronts.  A narrative “plaque”, reminiscent of the four national championship plaques at the entrance of the Edge Center building, are on the back, providing a descriptive narrative of the art on the front.

T-shirts and prints will be available for purchase and artist signing. For more information, go to http://stinGTees.com.
