17GT Event January 17th for CY 1995 and before

Location: Stadtmauer Bailkin LLP offices 850 3rd Ave, 19th floor - b/w 51st and 52nd, 1 block from the Lexington and 51st St subway station in NYC.

Please join me and our host Djuro Villaran-Rokovich (Arch '86) as we conduct the 2nd Georgia Tech Club of NY/NJ Business Network Group (BNG) meeting. These initial meetings are held in an informal setting allowing participants the chance to better understand each other's businesses and interests as well as help chart the course for the BNG. Come spend an hour with the group. You will be glad that you did.

You can take the PATH train from 4 locations in NYC (Main station at 32nd and 6th Ave) towards Hoboken. Once you go up the stairs, cross Hudson Pl and proceed down River Street. Make a right onto 1st St and then a left onto Sinatra Drive towards Trinity.

4MID-CAREER ALUMNI NETWORKING EVENT
Calling all graduates from 1996 and earlier!

Please join us on Tuesday, April 4th as we conduct our third Georgia Tech Club of NY/NJ Networking meeting for Mid-career Alumni.

The meeting is being hosted by D’juro Villaran-Rokovich (Arch ’86) at the offices of Stadtmauer Bailkin LLP, located at 850 Third Avenue, 19th floor.

Everyone is welcome to come at 6:00 pm to enjoy wine and cheese. The main portion of the meeting will begin promptly at 6:30 pm. Come spend an hour with the group. You will be glad that you did. The 2006 Dad Vail Regatta is held annually in Philadelphia. We are interested in knowing how many people would be interested in traveling to Philadelphia as a group. The Georgia Tech crew team usually puts on a very good showing at this event.

There will be a guided tour of the historic and evolving Brooklyn Navy Yard in the comfort of an air conditioned bus.

4Volunteers Needed: 2008 New York City FIRST Robotics Competition.
The New York City FIRST Robotics Competition will be held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan on April 4 - 6, 2008. The event is a world-class celebration of teams of high school students working smart in science and technology. The 2008 competition will include 63 FIRST Robotics teams from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, Virginia and the United Kingdom. More details on the event are available on the New York City/New Jersey FIRST web site.

Tradition Meets Tradition: The Georgia Tech Glee Club Performs at Carnegie Hall

President G. Wayne Clough, Georgia Institute of Technology and the Georgia Tech Alumni Association cordially invite you to a cocktail reception in honor of the Georgia Tech Glee Club. The Glee Club is the oldest student organization on the Georgia Tech campus, founded in 1906. After the reception, enjoy their first ever performance at New York City's legendary Carnegie Hall!

10GT Crew team in Philadelphia
Dad Vail Regatta: GT Crew team in Philadelphia. Sat, May 10th 2008.
Located on the river in 'Lot 20' in the alumni area. For directions go to www.dadvail.org/?Directions

Parking is at satellite locations away from the river. There are busses that go from parking lots to the river (I believe they charge $10) - do not walk. It's too far. Entrance for the race is free.

Our tents will be set up between 10-11am. Races go from 9am - 4pm. For food, bring money or make reservations with Mickey - I am bringing my grill. It is recommended to bring a blanket or chair. And be sure to wear your colors!

As a reminder, this is a nice day out in the park. Children and dogs are welcome. There are lots of activities going on during the races including free giveaways in the vendors tent. For questions or concerns contact Mickey at nastycpa@yahoo.com

19City Harvest volunteering
The GT Club will be sending a group of volunteers to the Green Market in Union Square to help collect excess food from farmers and load it onto City Harvest trucks, which deliver the food directly to community programs in the five boroughs. 5:30-7:30pm on Saturday 7/19/08 (NOTE: the event date was 6/28 but is now changed to 7/19).

Fellow alum, Paul Reitz, of AAI Architects has graciously offered to give a tour and open discussion of the World Trade Center construction site. Pauls office overlooks Ground Zero and the future home of the Freedom Tower. While we will not have access to tour the actual Ground Zero site, we will have access to artist renderings of the site, models of the new construction, and an amazing view of the construction site. Jon Eisenberg, alum, has been able to secure the roofdeck at Ava for us to use free of charge! We will have an AMAZING view of Times Square and the space will be ours for the night. We have also arranged drink specials for our event: $5 beers (Heineken, Amstel Light) and a $7 “Techtini.” As mentioned, this event will double as a fundraiser for the NY/NJ Georgia Tech Scholarship Fund. There is a $10/person contribution for this event that goes straight to the scholarship fund. The $10 contribution also gets you a chance to win various prizes!! Feel free to bring friends and family to the fundraiser. The more the merrier!!!
