Welcome to the Heart of Texas Georgia Tech Club in Austin, Texas!!

This club was started by several displaced Yellow Jackets trying to find somewhere to watch the Tech games on Saturdays. After seeing the attendance grow, we thought that we could be much more. Receiving our official charter in December 2001, we expanded to involve student recruitment activities and volunteer events. We continue to expand our horizon without losing focus on the reason for the foundation of the club - the camaraderie of getting together with Georgia Tech alumni and friends. Look through this site to see how you too can get involved!

About Our Events

Game Watching Parties:
For every Georgia Tech football game and some basketball games, GT alumni and friends get together to watch the games, often at Mangia's Pizza on Mesa Drive in our own private room. They have good food, a big screen TV with sound, and a smoke-free, family atmosphere. It is exciting to cheer on the Yellow Jackets with fellow fans. Please see the events page for more information and updates, especially as the location will vary for some 2008 games as we join other ACC schools for joint events. Basketball game watchings are sporadic and the location may vary.

Club Dinners and Meetings with Representatives from GT:
Twice a year, the club holds meetings to conduct business such as electing officers and hear about current events at Georgia Tech from GT representatives. This helps us come together as a club and stay connected to the Georgia Tech community. It is a real treat to have prominent Tech academic and athletic speakers promoting Georgia Tech especially since we are isolated in Longhorn country! In the past, we have picked venues such as Iron Cactus, Threadgills and County Line.

Freshman Send-Off Picnic:
Do you remember the week before going to your freshman year of college? For some of us we were worried about where the classes were going to be and how hard we were going to have to study . . . . for others we were worried about where the boys/girls were going to be and how we were going to meet them . . .for others it is just too hard to remember back that far. For the freshmen coming from Central Texas, we send them off in style! In August, we meet for a picnic in places like Zilker Park for BBQ, fun and games. It is a chance for new students and their families to meet each other and ask people who "made it out" to tell their stories.

College Fairs:
We need volunteers in the fall to represent Georgia Tech at the college fairs for high schools around the Austin area. If you would like to tell high school students and their parents how great it is to be a Ramblin' Reck from Georgia Tech, become a Ramblin Recruiter.

Team Buzz:
Volunteer for Team Buzz, Georgia Tech's philanthropy day. This is the day in September or October when Georgia Tech students and alumni around the country volunteer their time to organizations such as the Habitat for Humanity and the Food Bank.

Social Events:
Through-out the year, we try to hold several activities just for the fun of it! This includes happy hours, BBQs, and Round Rock Express Games. It is fun the get together with old friends and to meet new ones too!!!!
