1"Food Fight" Challenge
The local Yellow Jackets have been challenged to a "Food Fight"! We need your help! The Tigers of the local Auburn Club have challenged all fans of the Dawgs and Yellow Jackets to see who can collect the most food (and cleaning supplies) for Amity House from November 1-20. Drop-off points for all donations: St. Simons: Winn Dixie and Harris Teeter stores All three clubs will have collection boxes inside these locations. The competition begins November 1, and a weigh-in will be held November 20 at the JC Strother Company in the Village on St. Simons to determine the winner. Amity House needs canned foods, laundry detergent, bleach, and cleaning and paper products. For those who cannot make drops at Winn Dixie or Harris Teeter, you can mail a check to our club and we will make the purchase for you! Make your check payable to The Golden Isles Ga Tech Club, mark it for Amity House, and mail right away to: Dave Smith Golden Isles Ga Tech Club PO Box 20763 St. Simons Island, GA 31522 Don't forget the dates - Nov. 1 through Nov. 20 Let's get this off to a great start! Don't wait until the end - Put some pressure on the Dawgs & Tigers!

22"Food Fight" Results!
Our friendly competition Food Drive for Amity House was a big success! Monday all the canned food, laundry detergent, bleach, paper products and other miscellaneous items were collected and weighed at Strother's in the Village. We began with a collection of items and a photo at Harris Teeter and then moved on to Winn Dixie doing the same before proceeding to Strother's. Members of all three clubs were present as well as Director of Amity House Charlotte Mullikin, and several of her employees. John duPont of 105.9 Magic radio station stepped in and served as our official 'weigher,' and a reporter and photographer from the Brunswick News were there to get a first-hand report for the paper. And now for the drum roll!!! Georgia Tech was the winner with a total of 740 pounds! More than Auburn and Georgia combined! Next was Auburn with 487 pounds, followed by Georgia with 226 pounds, for a combined total of 1453 pounds of food and other needed items. Both grocery stores donated gift certificates to the winner, Georgia Tech, who was represented by Chuck Carter. Chuck then donated the gift certificates to Charlotte for Amity House to buy Turkeys for Thanksgiving. Thank you to all who contributed to the Food Drive. It was a great joint event for all three clubs. The collected items will help stock the pantry at Amity House. But most of all, it will help them serve a warm Thanksgiving dinner to the women and children at Amity House who can't be in their own home this year.
