    18Georgia Tech President's Scholar Program Interviews
    The Scholarship Committee of the Birmingham Area Georgia Tech Club is working with the Alumni Association to evaluate the high school seniors from our area who are candidates for the Georgia Tech President’s Scholar Program. As a part of this process, alumni from our club will be interviewing the young people who have been selected as semi-finalist for this scholarship. Anyone willing to send one night meeting some very intelligent and talented young people should contact Jimmy Cash. No experience is necessary, just a desire to help young people.

    21 National TEAM Buzz Community Service Day
    Habitat for Humanity House Co-Ordinator estimates progress will be such that they'll be ready for:
    (1) Put on Siding Long pieces aren't hard, it's the Mitre cuts at the Hip and Valley Joints.
    *Bring lots of Spatial Perception from Drawing 101. It ain't in the Curriculum anymore I think. I had the Course in the Summer Quarter of '50 and I did not have any Spatial Perception. Luckily I got a "D" as a gift and went on from there.
    (2) Painting! This is NOT the time to Think Outside The Lines.(Box)
    (3) Probably other stuff too I like to wander around and pick up trash and take pictures. Any of you who have come before already know this.

  • BK and AK are now synonymous with describing time "before Katrina" and "after Katrina". The Gulf Coast is still cleaning up one year after the disaster; and the rebuilding process has slowly begun. Joseph B. Hughes, Chair of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, will present on Georgia Tech's leadership role in providing technological innovative solutions in the rebuilding of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.

  • Dick is an Alabama native who attended Georgia Tech and graduated with a Civil Engineering degree. He was also inducted into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame. Besides his engineering career, Dick also rose to the Army Reserves highest rank, that of Major General.

    In addition to his engineering and military careers, Dick Burleson has been a football official in the Southeastern Conference for 25 years and worked a full schedule of top SEC games every year as head referee. Dick has served as Chief Referee and President of the SEC. He officiated fifteen major bowl games and the SEC Championship game.

    His book “You Better Be Right” has reached the #1 Best Sellers list at Barnes & Noble Bookstores.
