Preview Centennial DVD
![]() "TechTone News," a companion DVD to the book celebrating the centennial history of the Alumni Association, will feature historic news clips from Tech's past. The alumni book, "Ramblin' Wrecks from Georgia Tech," the centennial history of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, and its companion DVD, "TechTone News," will be available this fall. The coffee table edition of the book celebrates 100 years of a remarkable Ramblin' Wreck tradition. The Alumni Association received its charter in 1908. "'Ramblin' Wrecks from Georgia Tech' will be a collector's edition with a limited press run based on advance sales," said Alumni Association President Joseph P. Irwin. "We have no plans for additional press runs, so this will be a one-time offer." The DVD is a companion to the book presented in the style of old Movietone News reels. "It will be fun," said Marilyn Somers, director of the Living History program. The DVD features historic news clips from Georgia Tech's storied past, including the famous sprint of "Wrong Way" Roy Riegels in Tech's 1929 Rose Bowl clash with California and rare footage of Charles Lindbergh. "We cover the highlights of each decade, such as World War I and II, the Great Depression, women being admitted to Tech and integration," Somers said.
