Lorraine Hosting Prestigious Conference

Georgia Tech Lorraine is hosting the premier European conference in the field of molecular electronics.

More than 350 participants are expected at the 2007 European Conference on Molecular Electronics, scheduled for Sept. 5 to 8 at the Arsenal Congress Center in Metz, France.

The conference will cover all aspects of organic and plastic electronics, including chemistry, physics, biology, materials science, optical science, nanoscience and engineering. Also featured will be a session on the globalization of research.

Provost Gary Schuster will be a speaker at the conference. Other speakers include Jean-Lou Chameau, former Tech provost and current president of the California Institute of Technology; Robert H. Grubbs of CalTech; Alan J. Heeger, University of California at Santa Barbara; Junji Kido, Yamagata University, Japan; Jean-Marie Lehn, University Louis Pasteur; and George M. Whitesides, Harvard University.

Conference chairs are Jean-Luc Bredas, Georgia Tech professor of chemistry and biochemistry and chair in molecular design; Bernard Kippelen, electrical and computer engineering professor at Tech; and Jerome Cornil, professor at the University of Mons-Hainaut and visiting principal research scientist at Georgia Tech.
