Call for Nominations

Nominations are being accepted through Oct. 26 for the Dean Griffin Community Service and Outstanding Young Alumnus awards. Handed out each spring at the annual Gold & White Honors ceremony, the awards recognize alumni who have exhibited exceptional service to their alma mater and communities.

Named for the late Dean of students George C. Griffin, the award recognizes an alumnus who has performed exemplary community service work. The four primary considerations are:


  • Service in a long-term volunteer capacity.

  • Impact on the quality of life of others.

  • Demonstrated leadership and creative ability to deal with societal problems proactively.

  • Setting an example for others to follow.


The Outstanding Young Alumnus Award honors a graduate who has not yet reached the age of 40 and whose class year is within 20 years of Feb. 7, 2008. The award recognizes an alumnus who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in his/her profession and significant service to the Institute and the Alumni Association. The primary considerations are:


  • Service to Georgia Tech and the Georgia Tech Alumni Association.

  • Contributions to the general welfare of his/her community.

  • Service to his/her profession.
