Whether you're a Georgia Tech alum passing the gold and white tradition on to your high school student or the parent of a Yellow Jacket student, there's something for you at Family Weekend Sept. 14 and 15.
"Family Weekend provides an opportunity for students and their families to reconnect after students have had a few weeks to settle into life at Georgia Tech," said Amy Lancaster, Parents Program manager for the Alumni Association. "We hope to provide a fun, informative atmosphere during Family Weekend in which families have the chance to attend activities together and be a part of the Tech family."
Last year, more than 2,100 people attended Family Weekend activities. Even more are expected to turn out for this year's lineup of events.
On Friday, guests may chat with Tech's dean of students over doughnuts and coffee before attending seminars that cover everything from Tech traditions and Yellow Jacket football to the Institute's 20-year agenda for "Going Green." That afternoon, parents will mingle with professors at college and school receptions. Friday night festivities include a Technology Square street festival and an under-the-stars screening of "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" in Yellow Jacket Park.
Guests may participate in walking tours of Tech's campus on Saturday morning. Prior to Tech's Saturday night football game against Boston College, Family Weekend participants will be treated to a tailgate party on the Tech Tower lawn.
