Club Events Already in Full Swing
![]() LaGrange Club presented Tech students with Buzz rugs Georgia Tech clubs around the country held picnics in July and August to send new and returning Tech students off in style for the fall semester. More than 1,800 students, parents and alumni attended 52 picnics with themes including ice cream socials, barbecues and pool parties. This is a record number of send-off celebrations, said Jane Stoner, senior manager of clubs for the Alumni Association. "These picnics have become the hit of the clubs. The parents love them as much as the students and the alumni because they get to network with each other," Stoner said. "It is really nice for the clubs that are far away to give the students and the parents this support." Many of the clubs gave new students send-off gifts. The LaGrange, Ga., alumni club presented 11 students from that area with custom-made rugs from the Milliken Co. that featured a back-to-school themed Buzz and emblazoned with "Welcome Home." Clubs will now gear up for TEAM Buzz community service events to be Oct. 8.
