United States Vulnerable to More Terrorist Attacks
The U.S. infrastructure is a "ripe domain for terrorists," who had little trouble gaining access to the airplanes that became their weapons on Sept. 11, said Georgia Tech professor Seymour Goodman. He was one of five professors from the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs who sat down with students, faculty and the public Sept. 20 to discuss the terrorist attacks on America.

Tech Students Respond to Red Cross Call

Families Experience Tech Tradition, Excitement
More than 2,400 Georgia Tech students, parents and family members were on campus Sept. 28 and 29 participating in Family Weekend activities, including football, campus tours and seminars. The jam-packed weekend is designed to give Tech family members a real taste of life at Georgia Tech.

Fall, then Basketball
Dotted with tough non-conference games against Wisconsin, Syracuse, Georgia and St. Louis, plus a trip to Las Vegas, Georgia Tech's 2001-02 men's basketball schedule features a minimum of 13 games against teams in last year's NCAA field and 22 televised games.

Volleyball on a Roll
Senior Maja Pachale registered a team-high 17 kills and notched eight digs to lead the No. 24-ranked Yellow Jackets to a 3-1 victory over Wake Forest on Sept. 23. The win improved Tech 's record to 6-3, 2-1 ACC.

Counting Their Chickens
Georgia Institute of Technology researchers believe they're on the edge of a breakthrough, but they don't want to count their chickens before they're processed.

Hot Rocks Rise
A new study of the Earth's mantle beneath the ocean near Iceland provides the most convincing evidence yet that simple buoyancy of hot, partially molten rocks can play an important role in causing them to rise and erupt through the surface at mid-ocean ridges.
