Dress to Impress
![]() Image consultant Peggy Parks will teach alumnae how to dress for success Oct. 23. The ability to land your dream job may rely on more than experience, a polished resume and sterling references. It doesn't hurt to dress the part. The Georgia Tech Women's Alumni Network is hosting a crash course on creating a polished professional image Oct. 23 at the Alumni House. Check-in, a cash bar and hors d'oeuvres will be available at 6:30 p.m., followed by the presentation at 7 p.m. Image consultant Peggy Parks will lead the interactive workshop, "How to Create a Professional Image That Leads to Success: Are You Sending the Right Message?" The workshop will include demonstrations and role-playing exercises. Parks will educate alumnae on how to make a great first impression, interact confidently and comfortably in business situations and dress for the job they have, as well as the job they want. "Whether our Tech women are pursuing their first full-time positions, applying for a promotion at work or looking to set a more positive professional example for the individuals they supervise, this program will provide insight," said Caroline Taylor, senior manager of Career Services and Networking for the Alumni Association. "Alumnae and students are invited to attend this event," Taylor said. "We feel that this will be a fantastic learning experience and a great opportunity for these two groups to interact." The founder and president of The Parks Image Group in Atlanta, Parks is a certified image consultant with the London Image Institute and a member of the Association of Image Consultants International. A former model, who is fluent in three languages, she has worked in human resources, financial planning and management and as an interpreter for international corporations. The cost is $25, which includes course materials. Georgia Tech students will be admitted for $5. For more information on the workshop and to register visit gtalumni.org/site/Page/WOW. |
