Alumni Clubs Boost TEAM Buzz
![]() Columbus, Ohio, Georgia Tech Club president James Dixon befriended some pound puppies for TEAM Buzz. TEAM Buzz was launched by a group of Tech students as a way to lend a helping hand to the Atlanta community, but in recent years, alumni across the country have chipped in to make a difference in their own communities. Now in its 11th year, TEAM Buzz is a national event in which about 40 Georgia Tech clubs participate. The Columbus, Ohio, Georgia Tech Club conducted its first TEAM Buzz project Oct. 14 at the Franklin County Dog Shelter, where alumni volunteers helped gather newspapers for dog cages as well as walked and played fetch with their new best friends. The Columbus group was just one of many clubs participating in TEAM Buzz projects this fall. The Birmingham, Ala., club helped build a Habitat for Humanity house. The Southern Co. Georgia Tech Club hosted a Halloween party for the Center for the Visually Impaired. Alumni in Washington, D.C., helped pack care packages for troops overseas. It's not too late to lend a hand. Several Georgia Tech Clubs have TEAM Buzz projects planned for November. Alumni in the St. Petersburg and Tampa, Fla., areas will meet to prepare meals for the Ronald McDonald House casserole club. The Northeast Georgia club will be participating in a Habitat for Humanity project. For more information on upcoming TEAM Buzz projects visit gtalumni.org/site/TeamBuzzLocations. |
