Clough Pens Foreword to Centennial Book

"Wayne Clough became president of the Institute in the fall of 1994 equipped with an advantage no other president possessed — he came steeped in the Georgia Tech culture. He was a helluva engineer, the first alumnus to hold the Institute's top office, and he had even been baptized in the old school drownproofing course."

So opens one of the final chapters of "Ramblin' Wrecks From Georgia Tech" in describing the phenomenal era under President Wayne Clough.

Clough writes in the book's foreword, "Tech's celebration of the Association's centennial anniversary is a time for remembering the many wonderful highlights of the past and for using that past as a springboard to the incredible future opportunities that lie ahead."

The front piece to the book is a Photomosaic of the Ramblin' Wreck composed of 2,600 images of Georgia Tech alumni and friends. It includes the image of every alumnus who sent in an advance photograph as well as many of the leaders and legends of Ramblin' Wreck history.

The centennial book, celebrating 100 years of a remarkable Ramblin' Wreck tradition, and its companion DVD will be available in mid-November. The Alumni Association received its charter in 1908.

The DVD includes about 25 minutes of film clips featuring each decade the Alumni Association has served the Institute and its alumni.

Those planning to purchase books as holiday gifts should order now at www.gtalumni.org/centennialbook. Purchased through the Alumni Association, the book is $29.95, plus shipping and handling.
