Travel Photo Contest Winners

First-time travelers won two of three categories in the third Alumni Travel photo contest. The annual contest has been moved from spring to fall.

Hank Hearn, AE 69, won in the places category with photos of a "Countryside Estate in Umbria," taken on the Alumni Campus Abroad tour of Italy in June.

Gwen McCarthy, MS IM 78, won the culture category with a photo of "Bewildered Black Bear-Tracy Arm, Alaska," taken on the Alaska and British Columbia cruise in May.

Joel Porter, AE 70, MS IM 72, a veteran of five tours, received the top prize in the people category for "Whirling Your Dervish in Cairo," on the Wings Over the Nile tour in March.

The contest was open to all Georgia Tech alumni, families and friends who participated in an alumni travel tour between Jan. 1 and Oct. 13.

Martin Ludwig, director of Alumni Travel, received 55 entries from 21 travelers. Alumni Association staff selected the winners in the three categories.

Each winner will receive a $100 voucher for future travel and a Georgia Tech photo album.
