Big Money for Cool Shirts
![]() "What's Your Global Footprint?" is the theme of Georgia Tech's annual Earth Day celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 21 along Skiles Walkway. Participants can use their knowledge of Earth Day-related trivia to work their way through a maze, toss their old tennis shoes through a basketball goal and into a recycle bin and compete in a T-shirt design contest — a longtime favorite made more interesting with The Coca-Cola Co. awarding $500 for the winning design. "The contest is open to all Georgia Tech students, faculty, staff, alumni and retirees," said Earth Day chair Cindy Jackson. "We received a lot of good entries last year and we expect even more this year especially since Coca-Cola is providing a prize." The Environmental Leadership Award will recognize a campus leader in ecological and environmental issues. Previous recipients were Provost Jean-Lou Chameau and William A. Miller, project manager of facilities design and construction. The deadline for entries for the T-shirt contest and nominees for the Environmental Leadership Award is March 17. Information about all Earth Day programs is available at www.EarthDay.gatech.edu. |
