Your Photo Could Be Collector's Item

Time is running out to have your photo included on the Photomosaic cover of the Alumni Association's centennial history — destined to be a collector's item because of a limited press run.

The deadline to receive photo images is June 30. After the deadline, the images will be compiled into a dramatic Photomosaic cover of the Ramblin' Wreck.

The limited press run will be based on advance sales.

"We have no plans for additional press runs, so this will be a one-time offer," said Alumni Association President Joseph P. Irwin.

"Our history is about our alumni — how they came together to found the Association and how they persevered to hold it together during two world wars and the Great Depression. It's the story of some of our greatest personalities, who have helped shape and guide the Association," Irwin said.

A DVD highlighting the 100 years of alumni history, presented in the style of old Movietone News reels, will be a complementary feature of the book.

"It will be fun," said Marilyn Somers, director of the Alumni Association's Living History program, whose department is creating the DVD.

The DVD will feature film clips of Georgia Tech's presidents and remarkable events of each decade the Alumni Association has served the Institute and its alumni, she said.

"We will cover the highlights of each decade such as World War I and II, the Great Depression, women being admitted to Tech and integration and have alumni response," Somers said.

"We will capture some of Tech's remarkable and colorful personalities or legends — Dean George Griffin, coach Bobby Dodd, drownproofing champion Freddy Lanoue, golfing great Bobby Jones, former Mayor Ivan Allen and others."

The DVD will be included at no additional cost with the purchase of the coffee table book celebrating the Alumni Association's centennial anniversary.

The book will be available this fall. Advance orders are $29.95, a savings of $10 off the cover price. Advance copies for this collector's edition may be reserved at gtalumni.org/centennialbook.
