Co-op Named to Hall of Fame

Georgia Tech was inducted into the Cooperative Education Hall of Honor during a June ceremony at the University of Cincinnati. Tom Akins, executive director of the Division of Professional Practice, was on hand to accept the honor on behalf of the Institute.

The University of Cincinnati founded the first co-op program in 1906 and created the Hall of Honor in recognition of its centennial to honor individuals and institutions fundamental to the historical success of cooperative education. Former Georgia Tech co-op director James Wohlford was part of last year's inaugural class.

Tech's co-op program is the fourth oldest in the nation and one of the leaders in cooperative education on the national level. Tech has been listed in every U.S. News & World Report "Top 10 Programs that Work."

Tom Akins is the executive director of the Division of Professional Practice.
