Crosswalk May Become Pedestrian Friendly
![]() Crossing North Avenue to attend football games and other events on campus could become safer if Tech is able to clear the way for a crosswalk traffic signal. Georgia Tech has requested a pedestrian-triggered crosswalk traffic signal be installed on North Avenue between the Alumni House and the Burge parking deck. Facilities submitted the proposal to the city of Atlanta, which will present the matter to the Georgia Department of Transportation for approval. If approved, the city will install a flashing yellow light above the crosswalk until a permanent signal is installed. Currently, a removable sign instructs motorists to stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk. Alumni Association employees have seen a recent boost in the number of motorists ticketed for failure to yield to pedestrians attempting to cross North Avenue. |
