Sigma Chi Chapter Seeks $1 million

The Sigma Chi's chapter at Georgia Tech — Beta Psi — has established a foundation and raised $865,000 for scholarships and a leadership development program.

A.J. Land Jr., IM 60, past president of the Georgia Tech Foundation, and Claude Petty Jr., EE 50, a past trustee of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, are directing the $1 million "Rewarding Excellence" campaign.

Bill George, IE 64, and his wife, Penny, made a pledge to the Beta Psi Foundation of $100,000, the campaign's largest gift. George, the former chairman and CEO of Medtronic, is a professor of management practice at Harvard Business School and the author of "Authentic Leadership: Rediscovering the Secrets to Creating Lasting Value."
