Basketball Fans Meet Former Tech Players

Nearly 76 Tech alumni and friends joined the Delaware Valley Georgia Tech Club at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia for a pregame meet-and-greet reception with former Yellow Jackets Chris Bosh and Thaddeus Young.

Georgia Tech Night at the 76'ers took place when Philadelphia met the Toronto Raptors on Nov. 9. Both teams feature former Tech players. Bosh, who played at Tech in the 2002-03 season, was drafted by the Raptors. Young, who played for the Jackets in 2006-07, is a rookie with the 76'ers.

The Delaware Valley Georgia Tech Club's event entitled guests to discounted lower-level game tickets, a pregame shoot around — and the chance to shoot the breeze with Bosh and Young, who both signed autographs for the Jackets fans.

Jane Stoner, senior manager of clubs for the Alumni Association, said the event also spotlighted Georgia Tech.

"It was wonderful," Stoner said. "A lot of people not with our group came up to us at our table to ask about Georgia Tech. It was like a college fair at the 76'ers game."
