Canopy Pilots Land Medals

Georgia Tech alums landed big wins in canopy piloting competitions this fall in the United States and abroad.

Ian Bobo, IE 94, earned bronze at the World Cup canopy piloting competition in Australia in November. Bobo is a member of the PD Factory Team, which swept the competition with the top three finishes.

Bobo finished second at the U.S. canopy piloting championships in September behind PD Factory teammate, Georgia Tech classmate and national champ Shannon Pilcher, BC 94.

Pilcher defeated more than two dozen other pilots in three rounds of speed, distance and accuracy. He and Bobo both earned spots on the U.S. canopy piloting team.

Following the national competition, held in Ottawa, Ill., the PD Factory Team organized what it called "a couple of the tightest and smoothest 16-way canopy flocks to date."
