Ari Flechner, EE 92, president of the Orange County Georgia Tech Club, was named Ramblin' Wreck Volunteer of the Year during Leadership Georgia Tech in November.
"This is an award for the alumnus who has demonstrated dedication to Georgia Tech through a variety of volunteer roles and activities," said Jane Stoner, senior manager of Alumni Clubs. "Ari has been the driving force in the Orange County club becoming one of our best in the country.
"Orange County is a Tier 1 club even with the challenges of being so far away from the Georgia Tech campus. He works tirelessly to keep our alumni connected to Georgia Tech," Stoner said.
She said a Tier 1 club provides the highest level of volunteer leadership to the Alumni Association and Georgia Tech through student recruiting, community service, scholarships and networking events as well as support of the annual Roll Call.
Rick Clark, associate director of Undergraduate Admissions, was honored as the Best Friend of Georgia Tech.
"Upon his arrival at Georgia Tech in 2003, Rick instantly gained the respect of the academic and alumni community. He has demonstrated professionalism, enthusiasm and effectiveness in recruiting the best and brightest to Tech," said Len Contardo, vice president of Constituent Services for the Alumni Association.
Clark collaborates with the Alumni Association on the management of more than 120 college fairs across the nation each year. He also created the Decision Program used by clubs each spring to give "alumni the opportunity to make a direct impact on prospective students' college choices," Contardo said. "Rick is constantly looking for new and creative ways to involve alumni in the student recruiting process."
Leadership Georgia Tech is an annual event that provides Alumni club officers from throughout the United States with fresh ideas to keep alumni connected to Tech for life as well as innovative solutions to problems clubs may encounter.
