Eight in Hall of Fame
![]() Three-time golf All-American Stewart Cink, all-time leading basketball rebounder Malcolm Mackey, volleyball All-American Kerry Annel Bryan and baseball All-American Jay Payton headlined the 2005 class inducted into the Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame Nov. 4. Track and field All-Americans Julian Amedee and Janeen Jones McReynolds, 1940s baseball standout Henry Kalb and former basketball manager Charlie Radford rounded out the eight inductees. Mackey is the fourth member of the Yellow Jackets' 1990 Final Four team to be inducted, joining Brian Oliver, Dennis Scott and Kenny Anderson. Cink led Tech to three ACC championships in four years. Payton is the third member of the Yellow Jackets' 1994 College World Series runner-up team to be inducted, joining teammates Jason Varitek and Nomar Garciaparra. Annel Bryan, Tech's first volleyball player to be named conference player of the year, was a member of the first ACC regular-season champion volleyball team in 1994 and the first ACC tournament championship squad a year later. Amedee and Jones McReynolds combined to win nine ACC titles and seven All-America citations in track. Kalb was a star on Tech baseball teams in the late 1940s, while Radford was a manager on Tech's basketball team in the early 1950s and continues to be involved with the program. "The members of this Hall of Fame class represent a particularly strong period in Georgia Tech's athletics history in the early 1990s," athletics director Dave Braine said. printer-friendly version of this article
