Former Dean of Students Jim Dull received this sculpture of a Ramblin' Wreck from a student probably in the 1960s. A plaque attached to the wooden base has since fallen off and disappeared and, with the passage of the decades, Dull has forgotten who gave it to him and the circumstances surrounding the gift.
Dull turned to the Alumni Association's Living History program for help in identifying the sculptor. According to Marilyn Somers, director of Living History, the sculpture is bronze, not pieced-together scrap metal as once thought, and weighs more than 40 pounds. It is 9 inches high and 8 inches wide.
If you know anything about the origins of the sculpture, e-mail editor@alumni.gatech.edu or give Somers a call at (404) 894-9271.
