Bill George Discusses True Leadership

Alumnus Bill George, whose new book on leadership and ethics is climbing the best-seller list and giving him a national media spotlight, will speak at Georgia Tech this week.

George, IE 64, an author, professor at Harvard and former CEO, will discuss his book during an IMPACT speech at 4:30 p.m. April 4 in the LeCraw Auditorium at the College of Management building in Technology Square.

He saw his book, "True North," hit No. 6 on The Wall Street Journal's best-seller list March 23, just a week after it was released. The Minneapolis Star Tribune listed it No. 4 on its nonfiction best-seller list.

To mark the release of the book, George delivered a speech, "Leadership in the 21st Century," at the Westminster Town Hall Forum that was broadcast live on public radio.

David Brancaccio also interviewed George for the PBS television program "NOW."

"Since then it has been nonstop touring about, giving talks about the book and doing media interviews — exhausting but well worth it," George said.

George is a professor of management practice at the Harvard Business School and the former chairman and CEO of Medtronic Inc. He also is the author of "Authentic Leadership."
