Strike up the band. Fall football is on the horizon.

Georgia Tech will ramble into South Bend, Ind., for a rumble with the Irish on Sept. 1 and begin its 2007 football season, which two weeks later will feature a clash with Boston College during Family Weekend.

In October, the Yellow Jackets will battle Army as alumni deck out in white and gold for Homecoming, reunion parties and Buzz Bash.

"Alumni will want to mark their calendars for these dates," said Kara Allen, director of Events for the Georgia Tech Alumni Association. "This fall will be fantastic. We're traveling to Notre Dame for an exciting football game, we'll welcome parents to campus for Family Weekend and Homecoming will be packed full of activities, including our highly anticipated Buzz Bash."

"Wreck the Irish" is a fan and alumni tour Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 to Notre Dame and includes a stay in Chicago, train trip to South Bend and Tech tailgate party.

Family Weekend is Sept. 14-15, when the campus rolls out the gold carpet for families of students who are attending Tech and legacy families of prospective students. It's a weekend that is stimulating, informative and entertaining.

Homecoming is Oct. 18-20, and it is the highlight of the year for many alumni, Allen said. In addition to reunions for the classes of 1957, 1967 and 1982, all other alumni can celebrate at Buzz Bash. Weekend activities will include awe-inspiring seminars, campus tours, a phenomenal tailgate on the Tech Tower lawn and a gridiron skirmish with Army.

Registration for the Notre Dame tour will be posted later this month. Registration for Family Weekend and Homecoming will be posted in the summer.
