Out-of-This-World Magazine
![]() Bill Kruse has traveled the globe. But he'd never been to the end of the Earth — until he booked a voyage to the North Pole in celebration of his 80th birthday. Kruse's first-person account of his journey aboard a Russian icebreaker is the cover story of the Spring edition of the Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine, which will be mailed to Roll Call contributors April 6. The magazine also will be available online to Roll Call donors at www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/gatech/alumni-spring07. User names and passwords will be e-mailed to donors. The sky isn't the limit for Tech students, who, with their counterparts at MIT, have come up with an out-of-the-world fundraising idea to help launch their satellite project. Elsewhere in the edition are "Lessons in Leadership" from Craig Mundie of Microsoft, Joe Evans of Bankers' Capital Group, James Robinson III of RRE Ventures, former Wal-Mart vice chair Jack Shewmaker and Coca-Cola Enterprises chief John Brock. A search for classmate Tammy Fulwider could prove difficult — unless you were looking for actress Megan Blake. The former Miss Georgia is profiled in the magazine, as are Jan Boal, who shares his fascination with kaleidoscopes, and Lisa King, who uses her psychology degrees to bring innovation to Newell Rubbermaid products. Alumnus Mike Glad didn't win an Oscar, but he did walk the famed red carpet. Read about his Academy Award nomination and the achievements of other Tech alums, faculty, staff and students in the pages — online or in print — of the Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine. If you're not getting the Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine — via the Internet or the Postal Service — give to Roll Call at www.gtalumni.org/rollcall. |
