Magazine Features Tech's 'Brain Trust'

The Spring edition of the Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine taps into the brain power of the Institute's faculty and the artistic prowess of its alumni as well as out-of-this-world research and down-to-earth help for New Orleans.

The cover story, "The Brain Trust," profiles Tech's 19 Georgia Research Alliance eminent scholars and their areas of expertise. "Taking Earth's Temperature" explains how five researchers are using a NASA satellite to study the planet's atmospheric health. Also covered in the magazine is an interview with Joseph Hughes, chair of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, who sat down to talk about New Orleans' past, present and future.

Two articles deal with alums' artistic sides. "Poultry Portraiture" draws from Frank Norton's Chick'in Scratch, while "Poetic License" details how Bruce McEver is sharing his love of poetry with Georgia Tech students.

The Spring issue also highlights the appointment of Dan Radakovich as Georgia Tech's new athletics director and the naming of the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering for H. Milton Stewart, who, with his wife, Carolyn, made a $20 million endowment. Also featured are a high-flying alumnus and the man behind Google News. Finally, there's the story of Peter Ludovice, professor by day, stand-up comic by night.

The Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine is published quarterly and distributed to Roll Call donors. To give to the annual fund and receive the award-winning publication, visit www.gtalumni.org/site/Page/GiveBack.
