Born Robert Lee Dodd in Galex, Va. in 1909.
  Grew up and attended high school in Kingsport, Tenn.
  Won nine letters in three sports at the University of Tennessee.
  Came to Georgia Tech in 1930 as backfield football coach under William Alexander.
  Named head football coach in 1944 and started in 1945.
  Assumed additional title of athletic director in 1950.
  Retired from coaching in 1967 with a record of 165-64-8.
  Took Tech to 13 bowl games and won nine of them.
  Longest winning streak was 31 games.
  Retired as athletic director in 1976.
  Elected to National Football Hall of Fame in 1961.
  Some of his nicknames were The Gray Fox, The Bowlmaster, and The Big Whistle.
  Dodd's philosophy: "Think you're lucky and you will be."
  Bobby Dodd passed away in 1988 at 79 years of age.
